Raindrops on Roses

Still intermittently stormy.  We went on a walk benefiting Multiple Sclerosis (through a cemetery...  let's try not to think about that too hard.)

City Trees

I'm catching up on paperwork on this rainy afternoon, and yet I'm feeling cute in a hoodie and jeans with no makeup.  So here's a photo.

Girl Next Door Exotic

I have two Nanette Lepore dresses, and they are both extremely flattering... and NSFW.  I have the day off after working an overnight, and I wore this one to the store and to get my bicycle repaired.

Just One Of Those Things

First of all, this dress is amazing - soft, slightly stretchy fabric with a nice weight and drape, machine washable, vibrant colors, and a great length.

When We Were Young

Another outdoor get-together, and I had a suspicion I might end up kicking a ball around with the kids, so I wore my athletic shoes.  But I also wanted to look put-together for hobnobbing.  The outfit came together with this cute little top from the Heritage 1981 line...

Sweet Cloche of Mine

I have returned with something old and something new - a black knit wrap dress I got on clearance for $3 about 10 years ago when I really had no money, and a new...

My Daughter Helped Me Get Dressed

So I have an eye infection again, and I threw out my mascara and eye liner.  I won't be wearing eye makeup for several days while I'm on antibiotics.  When I shuffled into the kitchen this morning for coffee, my daughter was already dressed in a red cotton dress with white dragonflies on it, and she had a truly enormous fuchsia ribbon she wanted me to tie in her hair.
"Come on, Momma!" she said.  "I'll help you pick out a dress to wear!"  We ended up with this warm-weather pick from Jessica Simpson because it's short enough that it won't be restrictive when we play soccer later.  And, "I want you to be alllll red today."  I'm wearing red rose earrings and a giant red felt poppy in my hair.
They think I'm beautiful.  I'm grateful for completely unaffected reminders that who you are on the inside "will shine out of your face like sunbeams, and you will always look lovely."*

Classic Stripes

I got this sweater for spring, because black-and-white stripes are always cute for spring, and it has a graphic of an umbrella on it.  It's a knit and fits beautifully.  And then I realized...

The Best View

I made it through test day!  I wore my favorite yellow-orange, comfortable, cotton sweater, which makes my skin look sallow and is shaped like a sack.  My secret alter-ego is a cabled golden turtle.
At any rate, here's a photo of the view from my favorite study spot.

Snow White, Rose Red

Foxy-muff sweater and red rose earrings for geocaching today.

Currently Obsessed With... Things That Are New

The majority of my shopping is pre-owned - it's so inexpensive, and I love the variety.  But here are a few new, available-to-everyone items I have my eye on.
This off-the-shoulder dress from New York & Company with its oversized blue flower print.

Recap: Not So Sweet

Here's a recap of one of my favorite outfits for spring: a floral tee, jeans, and a leather jacket.
I never felt like I could pull off the leather jacket look when I was younger, but with age comes confidence, I suppose.  Or, perhaps I just moved to a new place and allowed myself to become a little bit of a different person.

Pink Blooms

The azaleas are still having their moment in the backyard - I can see them in riotous bloom from my favorite study spot.

Bows and Whistles

This seersucker dress makes me feel a little bit intrepid - for example, the sort of person who might uncover a small hippopotamus beneath the azaleas.  It fits like a dream, the orange piping and the wrap-around bow are charming summer details...

Easter Song

We had a lovely Easter - my sister was visiting, and we all took a few days off beforehand and hiked around some state parks, and visited a fish hatchery, among other things.  Here's Easter morning - you can't tell in this picture, but I'm wearing some knee high black boots with this dress that absolutely don't go, because I was leaping around the yard hiding eggs.
So here I am with my favorite girl munchkin, who wanted to wear a bird dress like mine - hers has little parakeets, and I got it pre-owned, originally from H&M.  My favorite boy munchkin is wearing a spiffy blue button-down from Kohls, and as you can see, the Easter Bunny also left a couple of soft baby bunnies this year.
