Both the plaid from the shirt and the hearts on the sweater are simple and small in area. This lets both patterns shine, and they complement each other as well - the red in the plaid is the same red as one of the rows of hearts.
Tall brown boots make me think of English countryside (how realistic this is, I do not know. I went to England once but did not participate in anything resembling hunting with hounds.) Green glitter Christmas tree earrings also lend themselves well to this "out enjoying nature" ensemble, but are really here just because I love them.
Sweater was a chance find on clearance for $10 from Lauren Conrad for Kohls last fall.
